THE CORPORATION [22/23] Psycho Therapies Video
22. The public is starting to fight back and demand accountability from its corporations and an end to abuse. The Kathy Lee Gifford and Walmart scandal brought the issue of sweatshops into the national consciousness, yet they still exist. There is a disconnect between what we do for a living and taking responsibility for the effect it has on our planet. Citizens everywhere are exploring strategies to bridge the gap and regain democratic control. "One should never underestimate the power of the people."

At any rate, ...
At any rate, concrete proposals (intelligent, wise ones) are a necessary ingredient? that are often lacking in vague speeches like Anderson's. Because incremental steps toward transcendent change, such as concrete revisions to laws, will not be supported or accepted by the current system and its beneficiaries, the overarching goal remains a dream, however right and lovely.
Ray Anderson's ...
Ray Anderson's speech is powerful. However, the climbing of Mount Sustainability will require an incredible series of events that reshape our institutions' policies, our governments' laws,? our societal expectations of our institutions, our whole notion of the rules of the game. This transcendent change, organized not for greater wealth in the span of years but that of decades and of centuries, is far out of humanity's reach.
Considering we've ...
Considering we've never had a world government to know for sure if it would be bad, what's your source (or your argument) in claiming it? would make the world worse? I can imagine generic bad things about any situation coming to pass, but that in itself wouldn't invalidate the position.
I'm just genuinely curious, please expand a bit further.
Thats a? good ...
Thats a? good example of the Hegalian dialectic. They wanted a world government in the first place, so the screw us with big corporations and offer the solution that they wanted all along, people like you demand a world government, even though its going to make things much, much worse.
No, thats naive. ...
No, thats naive. You? can't just get rid of money, there has to be SOME medium of exchange. I suggest gold and silver, which have worked well for 5,000 years. Fiat paper currencies only last about 40 years before collapse. THAT is what is screwing us all, that is the BIG KAHUNA, the Federal Reserve and fiat currency.
Thats just naive. ...
Thats just naive. Getting rid of money would get rid of corporations, but it would get rid of EVERYTHING ELSE! There needs to be? some medium of exchange. A piece of paper isn't worth anything, but gold and silver do work well for the purpose of exchange, and have worked well for 5,000 years.
That's an idealist ...
That's an idealist thought. Sadly however, the truth of the matter is that many people don't work as hard unless there is an incentive. Lazy people will be lazier and problems will arise when there's disagreement with people? not contributing their part. Maybe if we were an "uncivilized" (boy is that oxymoron) civilization it may work, but with where we are now and undo what has been done would be extremely difficult..especially with all the big corporations out there.

That speech by Ray ...
That speech by Ray Anderson-? wow.
They need to make a ...
They need to make a change to the 14th Amendment; change the word "Person" with the words "Flesh And Blood HUMAN?? BEING (INDIVIDUAL/SINGULAR)".
Whoa, I have? ...
Whoa, I have? thought this same thing once!! And my grandmother just laughed at me. I thought it was a pretty good idea too. Maybe someday.

Well? maybe not ...
Well? maybe not rocks... To many rocks in proportion to everything else
we use money as a ...
we use money as a medium BECAUSE barter is? too difficult
money is? only a ...
money is? only a medium of exchange it wouldnt affect this if our currency was rocks or something
The people,? united ...
The people,? united, will never be defeated.
Oh really! US ...
Oh really! US nation demands low prices on goods and merchadise and managing staff demands even higher wages with time. AND THERE IS NO END TO IT. The managment staff salaries have risen like 10 to 20 times over 10 years time. SO the process of managment wages rise if speeding up. You can not take more out of notting, you have to take? it from someone. So firms hire kids, who work for a dollar a day and in the future for a dollar a month.COrporate allways cut costs, multiplies profits.
Not really. Of ...
Not really. Of course the actual numbers have gone up, but I was saying percentages have gone up also. So yeah, not? a false correlation at all.
I really like this ...
I really like this kind of videos, because they make you see reality. However, when i am going to see a VIDEO that talks about solutions? or whats being done. We always foucus on the problem, and it does not matter how much we foucus on it, solutions won't come from the same level of thiking that created the problem.
The population? of ...
The population? of the planet has also increased dramatically since the invention of the firearm, and despite every other weapon conceived. You have made a false correlation.

@happymand : I ...
@happymand : I never said only psychopaths kill people, you eluded that I did. Killing in war is not murder and I never said it was. Your other points I agree with. But if you get any gun you want, load it, put it down and never touch it again. IT WILL NOT KILL ANYONE. Only when a PERSON picks it up? and uses it, will it become harmful. That's my point.
So only ...
So only pssychopaths and bad people kill others? No, EVERYONE has the capacity to kill. Are our military all just a bunch of psychopathic,? sick murdering f**ks? No. It is A LOT easier to kill someone with a gun than with a knife. Yes, people have been killing since the beginning of humanity, but I promise you, the numbers have gone WAY up since the invention of the gun. That is a proven fact.
There are world ...
There are world companies, but there is no world government. Unfortunately, by operating different branches in different countries, and circumventing or overpowering local laws, groups like Monsanto (I believe) cannot be brought to justice unless a? greater effort is made by multiple nations to do so. And why should they? Some of the them probably invest in it.
Stop buying ...
Stop buying corporate, buy local businesses and manage your dollars away? from over-accumulation.
very good point. ?
very good point. ?
Or we could get rid ...
Or we could get rid of money as a whole that seems to be the main problem It cause's men to become heartless and greedy and others to slave there whole life's for it Why? Why cant we just work as? a whole on some type of bartering system or just for the common wealth of everyone Why is a piece of paper or some stupid piece gold or silver worth anything? That shouldnt be what makes the world go round
Blame Al Gore?
Blame Al Gore?

@betsingerb: Guns ...
@betsingerb: Guns don't kill people. Stupid A-Holes with guns in their hands do. If there? are no guns, then psychopaths will use knifes. If there are no knives, then sick murdering f**ks will use bats or sticks or rocks or just their hands. The point is people have been murdering and killing each other waaaayyyyy, longer then guns have been around. And guns have nothing to do with mass murder. People do.
